The Met Gala: Lily Aldridge's Skin Prep by YSE Beauty
Yesterday was Met Monday, and we spotted some glowing skin that looked quite familiar.
Perhaps because Lily Aldridge, iconic Victoria’s Secret angel and supermodel, received the YSE treatment during her prep for the big event.
This year, Lily played her part at Vogue’s annual fundraiser as a host of E! Entertainment’s Met Gala Live. And as a model of twenty years and a classic Met veteran, her many years of attendance have placed her at expert status when it comes to her photo-ready ritual.
Taking charge of Lily’s glam was Romy Soleimani, New York based makeup artist with a wide clientele of stars – think Reese Witherspoon, Natalie Portman, Alicia Keys, and more. And at an event like the Met Gala, the most important accessory to a red carpet look is the skin that adorns the dress. So, in anticipation of her delicate silhouette, Lily turned to Romy for a fresh face that would properly complement her dreamy look.
For Lily, a smooth base was where it began. Romy started with a gentle exfoliation using Your Favorite Ex™ Exfoliating Pads to reveal a clean canvas, taking care of any dullness left on the surface. To lock in radiance with a layer of hydration, she then went in with the Xtremely Rich™ Moisturizer as a weightless barrier to plump and prep the face. The Golden Sculpt Face Roller was her final depuffing step, encouraging both product penetration and lymphatic drainage. And the last layer before makeup? The Skin Glow Primer – a lightweight veil between your skincare and product application that truly does it all: primes, protects, and glows.
Romy took a second-skin approach to glam with mauve accents and a clean winged liner on the eyes. Lily’s cheeks and eyes served as the focal points of the look, lending to the softness of her custom Oscar de la Renta gown. Once she was fit in her dress, it was time for the finishing touch: an allover layer of radiance. From her décolletage to her fingertips, Romy applied Liquid Glow Body Oil to deliver an eye catching gleam – a Hollywood trick to help the skin to appear luminous and healthy under any lighting.
And just like that, Lily was ready to glow – serving as the queen of the carpet, year and year again. A special thanks to Romy for including us, and a standing ovation to Mrs. Aldridge, the vision that brought it to life. We’ll see you next year, Met Gala.
