The Opportunity
YSE Beauty is seeking an experienced and proven Senior Director of Social Media & Influencer to own our community-first approach to marketing and support our rapidly growing brand. Our ideal candidate is a deeply passionate storyteller who is able to bring our brand story to life across social and influencer channels – creating/owning the strategy and managing/leading execution across all platforms as well as our in-house and consultant/agency resources. They will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative campaigns and strategies that drive brand awareness, engagement, and growth. They will also be responsible for helping shape our brand’s voice, visual identity and digital narrative. A strong leader and visionary innovator, this person isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo and disrupt industry standards, reimagining our existing social experience.
The Senior Director of Social Media & Influencer will create and drive the roadmap to win across key social platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube, as well as lead innovative ideas for content that are scaleable and unique to YSE across all social channels. They will also own how engage our fierce community of influencers and brand advocates, fostering brand love and loyalty as well as EMV and conversion. Across all functions, the Senior Director of Social Media & Influencer will work closely with the marketing, PR, and product development teams to ensure cohesive brand and product messaging and ensure we are leveraging content content across channels.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in beauty, is relentlessly focused on how to best engage our customer, and possesses a deep understanding of existing and emerging social media platforms and trends. Highly creative and innovative, this person will proactively bring fresh ideas to the table, iterate quickly, and thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment.
Responsibilities
Social Media:
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with our brand’s values and objectives, supporting our DTC business and retail partners
- Oversee the development of platform-specific action plans, including playbooks, best practices, campaigns and evergreen storytelling for existing and emerging channels
- Lead the strategic planning and execution of brand initiatives on social, ensuring they resonate deeply with our brand values and connect with our online community
- Develop social go-to-market plans for global campaigns and product launches, working with key stakeholders to develop social benchmarks and meet agreed KPIs
- Lead the creation of visually stunning and compelling content, including photos, videos, graphics, live streams, and written copy adopting to industry best practices
- Oversee community management strategy and day-to-day execution, inclusive of response protocol and crisis response
- Manage external briefing process for content creation and social activations across all brand, agency and freelance partners
- Spearhead relationships with new/emerging platforms to ensure knowledge of and access to new tools and beta tests
- Define clear, ambitious goals and metrics for each channel and adapt strategies accordingly to maximize impact and return on investment.
- Ensure YSE Beauty brand identity and social tone of voice is represented consistently across all social media touchpoints
- Partner closely with the Global Marketing and Creative teams to create best-in-class assets to support key brand & cultural moments
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across Global Marketing, Creative, E-Commerce, and Product to create the social content strategy
- Continuously evaluate and adapt the strategy taking into account algorithm changes, consumer behavior and competitior activity, staying ahead in the ever-evolving digital landscape
- Keep up to date with industry trends and changes in algorithms and platforms. Implement innovative and emerging practices to stay ahead of the competition
- Track and analyzing performance across platforms, using data to iterate and inform strategy
Influencer Marketing:
- Develop, own and manage a comprehensive influencer marketing strategy to identify and nurture long-term relationships with key influencers, ambassadors, and content creators
- Oversee strategy from concept to exeuction, focusing on growing brand loyalty, engagement and word-of-mouth awareness as well as EMV
- Oversee organic seeding as well as paid content strategies across macro, micro and nano influencers
- Negotiate contracts and partnerships with key micro, macro, and nano influencers, ensuring brand alignment and ROI
- Track and analyzing performance across platforms, using data to iterate and inform strategy
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of social media managers, content creators, and influencer marketing specialists
- Foster a collaborative, creative and highly productive environment, encouraging innovation and professional growth
- Ensure that the team is aligned with the overall business objectives and equipped to execute strategies effectively
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- 8-10+ years of experience, with at least 5 years in-house or agency beauty experience (skincare or color cosmetics preferred)
- Proven track record of succeeding in a fast-paced environment
- Proven track record of owning/leading innovative social media, influencer and digital marketing campaigns that drive engagement and brand growth
- Proven track record of building highly engaged social communities around a brand, its products and mission
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, business or a related field) preferred but not required
- Strong leadership, project management and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards achieving common goals.
- Deep understanding of social media platforms, content trends, and influencer marketing best practices
- Knowledge of best performing strategies on social media for beauty brands, as well as ability to seek out, translate and integrate the best of what non-beauty brands are doing into YSE Beauty’s social media strategy
- Experience with social media analytics tools and the ability to translate data into actionable strategies
- Passion for beauty, trends, and digital innovation.
- Demonstrated experience in social media, influencdre and content marketing, including setting comprehensive strategies with clear KPIs for success
- Experience working closely with a founder strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to concept/create, shoot, and edit content across social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok & Facebook)
- Familiarity with online analytical tools and social scheduling applications
- A strong work ethic; a flexible, can-do attitude; the ability to iterate quickly and embrace constructive feedback
- A desire to learn and grow; constantly striving for excellence in execution
