Depuff Like a Pro with @stretchwithandrea

Written by Elizabeth Gehl

Our favorite part of the red carpet? Everything that leads up to it.

And in terms of non-invasive treatments for event prep, the buccal face massage seems to be the hottest ticket – if you’re looking for smooth, snatched, and sculpted features, that is.

Celebrity massage specialist Andrea Carlisle Rodriguez is the one to know. She’s the master of head-to-toe lymphatic drainage and stretch treatments, with clients like Sydney Sweeney, Ashley Graham, Daisy Edgar Jones and Sophia Bush. We give the gold star to her Buccal & Face Lift Massage, a full face sculpting treatment proven to depuff the skin, smooth fine lines, reduce facial tension and calm the overall nervous system. Best yet, Andrea’s treatments are done the YSE way – yep, Your Favorite Ex™ and all.

The Service

Her signature facial massage begins with a thorough cleaning using Take It Off, our gentle gel-oil cleanser. She uses the slip of the formula to glide her hands over the skin, bringing circulation to the cheek area, and awakening the skin through firm pressure on the temples and clavicle area.

Once the skin is wiped clean, she swipes our Exfoliating Pads across the face and down the neck to resurface and retexture the skin barrier.

A calming face oil serves as the slick base for her lymphatic massage. She starts by stimulating the skin in repetitive upward movements at the chin, jaw, and up and around the buccal area–the outer lining of the cheek. She drags her fingers up towards the temples and the upper brow area in one stroke, holding pressure here to release tension below the surface. She holds the same firm pressure on the sinuses, pushing her stroke out towards the temples.

To treat the neck, she moves to upward scooping motions from the bottom of the neck to the chin, repeating this motion to support blood flow. Not only does this awaken the face, the stretching of the skin helps to diminish fine lines by smoothing out the skin’s surface and increasing blood flow to these areas.

For the buccal area, Andrea stimulates the cheek with an upward pulling motion, lifting the fingers swiftly at the top of the cheekbone. Moving to the jaw, she walks the fingers from the chin to the masseter muscle of the jaw to break up stagnant fluid. While holding the face steady at the chin with her left hand, she uses the intersection of the right pointer finger and thumb to glide the hand from chin to jaw bone, focusing circular motions on the masseter muscle to break up tension.

The buccal space is then prepared for the intraoral massage (which is exactly what it sounds like), using both hands in a pedaling motion to work into the cheek area, stimulating blood flow in an upward motion. The gloves come out, and it’s time to sculpt.

Andrea uses her hand to begin massaging the inside and outside of the cheek through the mouth. She uses her fingers in a scraping motion to break down the tissue in this space, bringing pressure from the jaw to the outer lip. This motion drains fluid trapped near the buccal tissue, slimming out the appearance of the overall area.

And to plump the lips, she uses both thumbs and pointer fingers to pinch the skin around the mouth and massage in strokes towards the lips surface. With both circular and stroking motions, this helps for blood flow to be directed towards the top and bottom lip. With the mouth now shut, she walks her pointer finger and thumb from the left side of the mouth to the right, pinching the lips together to encourage the blood flow to fill out fine lines and achieve a fuller look.

Just like every other fantastic treatment, the service ends with an indulgent moisturizer (aka, our very own Xtremely Rich). She takes a final pass upwards from the nasal cavity through the cheekbone and up to the temple, as well as from the chin to the masseter muscle, and down the neck. And voila – the skin is sculpted, right ready for the red carpet.
